Having moved from Scottsdale, Arizona to Grand Junction, Colorado several years ago, has left me without a large network of businesses and business owners to interact with. As you may know, The Monssoen Group is still based in Scottsdale and maintains our offices there. Our close proximity to the “action” in the Old Town Scottsdale neighborhoods allows me to interact with team members, associates, and board members that are still in the Greater Phoenix Area quite easily.

That being said, it has also acted as a crutch for not developing a larger network of associates here in Colorado. To that end, I have decided to reach out and make a simple exchange with local business owners here in the Grand Valley area. I will be producing a series of videos, in an interview format with local business owners, marketing companies, real estate agents, and other “local experts” to serve a few purposes.

First, I want to give to my community. These videos will be an opportunity for me to give a voice to these business leaders to tell the community and my connections about their businesses. Second, it will give me an opportunity to meet these people and to see how I can help them, not sell them something but help them. I have always found the best way to grow my business is to connect and give. Give until it hurts. To that end, I hope to use this medium to promote these companies not just to my network, but amongst the connected networks of all those who I have the opportunity to interview, chat with, and generally get to know.

The things I hope to find out from these people:

  • Where did they come from?
  • What kind of background do they have, before they started a business?
  • How long have they been in business?
  • What is great about their business and what do they love?
  • What do they hope to accomplish?
  • What is the greatest thing standing in their way right now?
  • What advice would they give someone starting a business right now?
  • Is there a book they would recommend someone wanting to go into business to read?
  • If there was one person they could meet, who would it be and why?

For the most part, I hope the discussions go off on their own, and let these owners, entrepreneurs, and interesting people get a chance to dish about their life and business, and where they hope to be in a few years. The discussion is informal and will be conducted at one of our sister company’s retail stores on Main Street in Grand Junction, Colorado. The videos will be posted on this website, our YouTube Channel, and in shorter format on TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram.

If you have any interest in participating in this video series, please drop me a line via our contact page. We are looking for anyone who is a business owner, business leader, area expert, or related field in the greater Grand Valley area (Grand Junction, Fruita, Palisade, Loma, Mack). At some point in the near future, as we build a larger network, we hope to be discussing with people in Delta, Montrose, Debeque, and further out.
